    Purpose of the Position

    The Senior Construction Manager has primary responsibility for ensuring the successful field execution of a project, working under the overall direction of, and in collaboration with, the Project Manager.  The Senior Construction Manager is responsible for all construction aspects of the project. Duties include planning, directing and oversight of resources, and monitoring and coordinating all activities within the construction site. The exact duties of a Senior Construction Manager may vary based on the specific project.

     

    Principal Duties/Responsibilities of the Position

  • Lead the site Construction Managers and support teams on all active projects on the site.

  • Build and develop the site construction project teams.

  • Ensure project safety through adherence to Safety policies and procedures and ensure site project teams compliance

  • Manage construction and claim resolution within approved scope. Apply change management process to manage scope changes.

  • Implement decision documentation for construction.

  • Develop and manage construction schedule and support integration of construction schedule with project schedule.

  • Manage startup punch list resolution.

  • Provide needed construction personnel to support project schedule.

  • Provide and coordinate construction input into the project risk management process.

  • Ensure construction quality meets quality specifications and performance standards.

  • Determine best method to construct design.

  • Work with engineering to establish project constructability review processes and schedule. Follow constructability plan.

  • Ensure compliance to construction permit and contract administration requirements.

  • Support startup.

  • Ensure adherence to contracting and labor strategies.

  • Manage construction contracts in accordance with contract.

  • Ensure cost accounting, invoice approval, and accruals processes are in place for construction.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.

  • Develop robust processes and standards to enable efficiency and effectiveness along with leading effective cross-functional communications.

  • Provide construction oversight and expertise across the site operations.

  • Provide leadership to understand, collaborate, and influence across the organizations including the customer that connects with the project team.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • BS degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten to Fifteen (10-15) years minimum related experience as a Construction Manager

     

    Other Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge.

  • Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).

  • Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.

  • Must have, and maintain, a valid driver’s license.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and related engineering documentation as required; specs, standards, drawings, etc.

  • Ability to interface with various levels of personnel in a multi-cultural, team- oriented environment

  • Proficient in the use of standard MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of various office equipment.

  • Familiarity with design, construction, and engineering terminology is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to use resourcefulness in researching various documents and databases is required, as well as gathering various types of information or other resources.

  • Ability to mentor a team of Construction Managers

     

    Physical Requirements

  • Walk up to six hours per day

  • Walk up/down stairs frequently

  • Stand up to six hours per day

  • Climb ladders and scaffolding

  • Wear PPE gear when required(steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves)

  • Tolerate extreme cold/heat for when required
